What began as a Nashville street band evolved into one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music composition, blending rustic American folk traditions with Eastern European influences, orchestral elements, and modern sensibilities.

The Blasting Company composed the critically-acclaimed and unforgettable music for the animated series Over the Garden Wall which has amassed over 220 Million streams globally. Defying any one genre, the band is well known for their versatility in a multitude of musical genres, past and present.

Founded by longtime brothers Joshua Kaufman and Justin Rubenstein, the band busked the streets of Europe and the U.S., eventually landing in Los Angeles where they were quickly introduced to the world of film and television.

Composing ventures include songs written for Burlesque, Five-Year Engagement, their score on the Emmy-winning animated series Over the Garden Wall, the New York Times/Serial podcast The Kids of Rutherford County, a three-album soundtrack for a new table top role playing campaign The Crooked Moon featuring guest vocalists Haley Reinhart (Post-Modern Jukebox), Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Concords) and a collaboration with legendary arranger and composer Van Dyke Parks on the single Old Summer Reckoning.

The Blasting Company’s journey embodies authentic artistic evolution and dedication to craft. Their unique ability to blend vintage instrumentation with contemporary storytelling has made them sought-after collaborators across diverse media, from Emmy-winning animation to Peabody Award-caliber investigative journalism.
