Since signing with Rick Rubin’s American Recordings in 1993, Pete Droge has enjoyed a successful, multi-faceted career as a recording artist, songwriter, producer, and composer.

Beginning with his breakout hit “If You Don’t Love Me,” featured in the blockbuster Dumb and Dumber, Droge has gone on to compose and license original music for television and film. His music has been featured in national ad campaigns for the likes of Toyota and T-Mobile and a slew of TV shows and films, including Zombieland, After Life and Grey’s Anatomy.

Cameron Crowe personally asked Droge to pen an original song for his Academy Award- winning film Almost Famous. Droge can be seen on screen singing the resulting “Small Time Blues.” With Ex-Eurythmic Dave Stewart, he co-wrote and performed the main title theme for the Miramax film Beautiful Girls. Droge has composed original scores for three feature films and several shorts. Most recently, he scored Sam Jones’ Miles to Go Before I Sleep for Showtime.

In addition to composing and licensing music, Droge has led a successful career as a recording artist, having released several albums. Over the years, he has joined forces with a number of artists, both as a producer and co-writer, including fruitful collaborations with Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam and Chris Ballew of The Presidents of the United States of America.

In 2003, Droge teamed up with Matthew Sweet and Shawn Mullins to form their side- project harmony band, The Thorns, releasing a rootsy self-titled album on Columbia/ Aware. In addition, Droge co-wrote the single “Beautiful Wreck” from Shawn Mullins’ release, 9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor, which garnered a #1 AAA radio hit.

Droge’s Substack newsletter, Love Songs Etc, was launched in January of 2023, giving fans an intimate glimpse into his creative life. November 2023 saw the release of The Droge & Summers Blend Volume Three, a collaboration with his long-time partner, Elaine Summers. “Lonely Mama” was released as a 7” vinyl single on Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready’s HockeyTalkter Records.

Droge recently completed work on a new album with Grammy-winning producer Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann) and a group of A-list studio musicians. Fade Away Blue will be released in 2025.
